Milly the Muskrat
Photographs of a wild muskrat that I named Milly. This photograph project was started the spring of 2016 at Richard Bong Stage Recreation Area in Kansasville, Wisconsin.
Milly is a wild muskrat, which is also the largest species in the Arvicolinae family (rodents). Many Native Americans have a creation myth in which it is the muskrat who created the land by bringing mud up from the sea. Unlike beavers who live in lodges made of mud, plants, rocks and sticks...the muskrat live in push-ups. Majority of the push-up is just vegetation with a little amount of mud to hold it together.
